Anyone remember the best selling Jamestown Tray? Did you ever attend a Southern Living at HOME party? A shout out to all my old friends that used to sell Southern Living at HOME products with me- I miss you! Boy were those fun times- free trips, fast friendships with a common love for home décor with lots of style and laughs.
Sometimes I can’t believe how long ago that was- my boys were little and now they are BIG! And home décor styles have changed since then- when I look back I can laugh at what I used to like. Times change. So when we moved into this house, I’ll call it 642, I decided to update some Southern Living at HOME pieces. The Jamestown Tray, as this tray was named, was a best seller in it’s day. It seems funny now how these items all had names like a friend would- but then again as I search for the ideal outdoor couch, they all have names today too.
This is what the Jamestown Tray used to look like.
Since I like the addition of gold to our master bedroom and a few other rooms I decided to pull out my trusty gold spray paint and give it a go. For those of you that know me, know- I’ll paint just about anything to give it a new look or cover a flaw. I remember when neighbors realized I was having a baby girl because I spray-painted the boy’s old crib hot pink in the front yard.
I have always liked the way a tray pulls accessories together into a solid grouping and this new look for this item didn’t disappoint.
Time it took- literally 15 minutes.
Design tip- see how I have five items on the tray? Odds work best, you have probably heard that before. and the varying heights help too. These are all items that were my parents and their master bedroom was also blue and white so it feels familiar to me.
Find something in your home that a few shots of spray paint can update- you will be amazed how easy and how changing it can be.
I still have my Jamestown tray and after reading this I think I will paint mine silver!
That’s a great idea, I also think white would look good but paint on thick and chip some off. So good to hear from you!
